Afghan Art Exhibition

Circle 9 invites to an art exhibition featuring  new Afghan artists who arrived in Australia as refugees.

The artists involved were mentored through the creative process to express themselves and their life through their art. See and purchase the artworks and hear from the artists speaking about their creative process and life experience.

Date: Saturday 16 March 2024 from 11:00am. Bookings essential for all elements via Adelaide Fringe.
Place: Rumi Palace Restaurant (303 Prospect Road Blair Athol, 303 Prospect Rd, Blair Athol).

This event consists of three distinct sessions:

  • 11:00 am – 12:30 pm – Official Exhibition Opening:
    Take in Afghan flavours with food and drink catered from Rumi Palace Restaurant, as part of the experience at the official opening.
    Paid Ticket Required for Entry ($35)
  • 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm –  Artists Talk
    A discussion with the artists themselves. Learn more about refugees and their new links with visual arts.
    Free Ticket Required for Entry
  • 2:30 pm – 4:30 pm – Art Exhibition
    No Ticket Required for Entry

 

Refugee Cabaret Fundraiser

You are invited to this night of frivolity organised by the Melllita Circle of Friends to raise funds to support a refugee family.

Armed with a double bass, an accordion, keyboards and two guitars the questionable Miss Kitty and her band will bemuse and entertain. Experience an evening of madcap musical musings with “Miss Kitty’s Karavan”. One Night Only!

The Mellita Circle of Friends is part of the Community Refugee Integration and Settlement Pilot (CRISP) through which groups of Australians welcome refugees into their local community and help them settle into Australia. All proceeds from this event will help support a refugee family.

Book and Plant Sale

Manresa Circle 117 is having their annual book and plant sale at the end of November. There will be lots of fabulous books for your summer reading as well as plenty of plants for your garden or even for gifts.
Date: Saturday 25th November 2pm – 6pm
         and  Sunday 26th November 9am – 6pm

Fundraising Event: Cultured

Hosted by Circle 9

Cultured is a unique, first-time event celebrating the lives of those of a cultural background in South Australia. Come along and be immersed in a range of areas including food, talks, performance, cooking classes and purchasing from those skilled in making and creating. Held at Four Oaks Farm SA, Littlehampton in the Adelaide Hills, take in the peace and tranquility in a country, farm life environment.

You can also see the farm animals on site and take in a pony ride or two, sit under the shady gum trees with something to eat and rest on the laws at the farm taking in the event vibe and coming home with a feeling of greatness, awareness and better understanding.

Fundraising Event: Aziza’s Dinner

Circle of Friends invites you to a delicious dinner with friends at Rumi Palace Restaurant.

All money raised from the dinner will go towards paying for a visa application for Aziza, a young Afghan woman who is sheltering in another country. Aziza’s father recently received his Permanent Protection Visa from the Australian Government after 10 years of waiting and working on a temporary protection visa. Unfortunately, Aziza’s father has had a severe work injury and can no longer work. He is trying desperately to bring his family to safety.
